Fireworks, Parade will Mark Fourth of July in Fairlawn

City celebrates holiday with two events

Fairlawn will host both a fireworks display and a parade to celebrate the Fourth of July.

Fireworks -- The celebration starts at 8 p.m. on Sunday, June 30 at Bicentennial Park with a performance by the Brass Band of the Western Reserve, with the fireworks show following at about 10 p.m.

The fireworks are sponsored by the Fairlawn Community Foundation, which raises donations to pay for the event.

This year, Summit Mall is taking part in the show by offering up dining and fireworks-watching options. The mall is inviting people to watch the fireworks from its parking lot, and is keeping five food-court restaurants -- Taco Bell, Sbarro, Chop It salads, Charley's grilled subs and Dairy Queen -- open till 9 p.m. to serve guests dinner and treats before the show.

Parade -- The annual July 4 parade steps off from Fairlawn Town Centre at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 4. It heads west on West Market Street to Summit Mall.
