Thank you for sharing this heart-wrenching story. We lost our family dog to heartworms a few years back. At that time they suggested spring, summer & fall treatment. We had a mild winter and the mosquitos didn't die off, ultimately infecting our dear Buddy. He was 10 yrs. old and had other health issues. We let him live until he went into cardiac arrest and we had to have him put down. We will always treat 12 months a year from now on. We still miss you Buddy!! Love Mom & Dad

I feel your comment was totally uncalled for Dave! I'm sure Kent has their fair share of drunks too. I happen to live in Ravenna and have for many, many years and am proud of it. You seem to be quite narrow minded in your thinking. Sad, sad, sad.

Jon~I did NOT say the students have lots of money, I said they will find out how expensive apts. are. If I offended anyone, I apologize. I just finished a week from Hel# moving my parents (83 & 84 yrs. old) out of Silver Oaks. Had to find them affordable housing and close in proximity to me. It is just a shame that they uprooted these older folks who thought they were settled for their remaining time on earth. My Mom was actually SICK from the stress and moving. I cannot fathom what some of the seniors are doing that don't have family backing as my parents do. I am in my 60's and physically it was alot on me too.

Poor students....(LOL)..what about the Senior Citizens at Silver Oaks. The students are mobile and adjust to anything, but the Senior Citizens that are affected don't have that priviledge. These poor older people have to go out and try to find housing, now let the KSU students do the same thing! The students will find, either apartments are too expensive or will not accomodate their needs (the same as the Senior Citizens). I have no mercy on KSU or the students at this point.

"reflect the values of the Kent community". HUH....what values? First they allow eviction of 250 senior citizens, who I am sure pay more in taxes than any student ever will, and now they are INVADING private homes/properties. Shame on the City of Kent for allowing Kent State University to run rampant thru the town. The students make a mess of a town & when they graduate, they split. Why would they want to stay in Kent as tax-paying adults when they know they will get ran-out by more student housing......I HOPE YOU STICK TO YOUR LAWSUIT. IT IS A MATTER OF PRINCIPLE.

The sad thing is, the day before the certified "eviction" letters were delivered (& not all residents have received them as of 7/26) the Tell Trust Group that owns Silver Oaks had the monthly luncheon for the residents. Not ONE word of this was mentioned by the owner. He acted like nothing was wrong!! My parents have lived their over 8 years and are in their 80s. Thank God they have family to help them. I feel sorry for the residents and the COLD, HEARTLESS manner in which this was handled by the owners. Funny thing is, the buyers don't have a permit to have Student Housing at this complex. Money talks I guess.
