The following was obtained from a Fairlawn police report dated Feb. 25. It does not indicate a conviction.
On Feb. 25 at 6:30 p.m., a Macy's clerk watched a suspected thief walk out of the men's fitting room with one pair of jeans after walking in with two. The clerk quickly canvassed the fitting room, finding only a torn off price tag, according to the Fairlawn police report. As the man tried to leave the store, she confronted him, and, during a brief struggle, he reportedly punched her in the chest. He then fled to the parking lot and sped off in a red Kia Spectra. Five Fairlawn police cruisers were dispatched to the scene, but were unable to locate the man. The incident is under investigation.

The kitchen supply store has two other locations in Northeast Ohio.
A sign posted outside Summit Mall's Williams-Sonoma store says its last day of business is Jan. 20. The sign reads "We apologize for any inconvenience and invite you to visit or call us at our nearby locations." Williams-Sonoma has stores at La Place in Beachwood and South Park Mall in Strongsville. A mall spokesperson did not return correspondence Thursday as to why the store is closing. A trip to Summit Mall turned into a nightmare for a 53-year-old Brecksville man after someone stole his wallet from his fitting room, according to a Fairlawn police report. The man went into Jos. A. Bank on Jan. 4 to try on some pants. He went into a fitting room and later walked out leaving his jeans with his wallet inside. In the brief moment he was gone, someone took his wallet, the report stated. The man noticed his wallet was missing between 8 and 8:30 p.m. By 8:47 p.m. the thief had made three big-ticket purchases using three different credit cards at Target. The purchases were for $318 (at 8:47 p.m.), $415 (at 8:50 p.m.) and $457 (at 8:54 p.m.). The suspect tried to use another card for a purchase but it was declined, the report …

After being informed of a crime ring passing fake $100 bills in several Macy's stores across the state, the security guard at the Summit Mall Macy's spotted one of the suspects on surveillance on Dec. 9. According to a Fairlawn police report, Amanda Scott, 24, of Rockaway, NY, attempted to make a purchase using two counterfeit 100s. The security guard caught up with the woman after she received change for her purchase. Scott had 13 counterfeit $100 bills on her, according to the report. Police charged Scott with theft by deception and forgery. She was taken to the Summit County Jail. That same day, the security guard found eight more counterfeit bills, the report stated.

A 19-year-old Akron woman was seen shoplifting in Pacific Sunwear in Summit Mall and tried to get away through Dillard's, according to a Fairlawn police report. When a mall security guard approached the woman as she was leaving, she began yelling and ran through the Dillard's parking lot, the report stated. The security guard caught up with the woman in the lot and the shoplifter charged the guard a small physical fight started until another security guard intervened, the report stated. When police officers took the woman away, she told the guard, "I'm coming back for you white (expletive), you ain't safe," the report stated.
