Bath Man Honored by FBI for Aiding in Rescue Mission
Jerry Schorr helped Bath Police find and rescue Arthur Cole in July 2011.
On July 24, 2011, Arthur Cole, an Alzheimer's patient, was home from a treatment facility for the weekend. He disappeared from a Hametown Road home and police started a township-wide search. After searching for two-and-a-half days, Bath resident Jerry Schorr found Cole stuck is a swamp one block from the Hametown Road home, said Bath Police Chief Michael McNeely. "Schorr heard Cole's cries for help," McNeely said. "He found Cole and contacted us and he assisted with the rescue." The rescue effort took a couple hours because the area was thickly wooded and wet with vegetation 6 to 8 feet high. Cole was pulled out and hospitalized, but had no major injuries.
