A clerk at the Shell True North gas station hit the hold-up alarm on Oct. 18 when a drunk Copley man stumbled in and demanded alcohol, according to a Bath police report. The clerk could tell the man was drunk and refused to sell him alcohol, the report said. The man became angry, started yelling profanities and slammed his hands on the counter before walking out. Police caught up with the man walking west on state Route 18 toward Interstate 77. Police cited him with disorderly conduct and he was taken back to his home in Copley.

On Oct. 13, the Bath Police Department got a call from a driver following what appeared to be a drunk man on Interstate 77 south, a report said. The caller said the driver was crossing the lines and following other vehicles very closely. When police caught up with the driver, it was just north of state Route 18, still on the highway, the report said. The officer pulled the man over, and initially he stopped. However, quickly after the stop, the man put his pickup truck in reverse and ran right into the officer's cruiser. The officer quickly jumped out of the cruiser and ran up to put the man's car in park. On Sept. 28, a patrolling officer saw a car with a man inside parked in front of a home in the 300 block of Lakepoint Drive, a Bath Township police report said. The man inside was asleep behind the wheel and the car was running. When the officer woke the man up, he was confused as to his whereabouts, the report said. The officer asked the man to perform sobriety tests, which he failed, and noted the man smelled of alcohol, had slurred speech and glossy eyes. In a breath test, he blew a 0.182. Police cited the man with physical control of a motor vehicle and he was released to a taxi company.

A Revere High sophomore got in a fight with another student on a school bus and was later caught with a knife. A drunk Akron woman was kicked out of a Montrose hotel for hosting a loud party, and she had a lot to say to police about that. A Hudson woman and Twinsburg man made a plan to steal $700 of merchandise from Walmart. But their plan was foiled shortly after they drove away.

An employee at the West Market Record Exchange called Fairlawn police on June 23 about a drunk man hanging around the parking lot, a police report said. When police arrived, they found an 18-year-old Wadsworth man slumped over the steering wheel of his car while it was running, the report said. An officer reached in the window of the car and turned it off in an attempt to wake the teen up, but it didn't work. It was then that the officer called an ambulance to the scene. When the teen got out of the car, officers said he urinated and almost fell down. Paramedics took him to Akron General in Montrose. On June 8, a motorist on Interestate 77 called Bath Police to report someone driving erratically heading north, a police report said. The motorist watched the 42-year-old woman pull into the rest area, run over the curb and come to a stop. When officers arrived, they found Paula Elkins, of West Virginia, sitting in her car, the report said. Officers could smell alcohol and saw a 12-pack of Bud Lite with two empty cans sitting on a seat. There was also a glass pipe with marijuana residue in it and several prescription pills, the report said. Police asked Elkins to do a couple field sobriety tests, which she failed, and in a breath test, she blew a 0.228, the report said. The legal limit is 0.08. On May 6, a Target employee called the Fairlawn Police Department about a man who was passed out at the employee entrance, a police report said. When police arrived, the 50-year-old Fairlawn man was out cold and unable to care for himself. Because of his drunken state, the man was taken to St. Thomas Hospital. Police charged him with disorderly conduct, the report said.
