Fairlawn Crime Rate Lower in 2012: State of the City

Mayor William Roth delivered his State of the City address at Monday's Chamber of Commerce Luncheon.

The crime rate in Fairlawn is slowly dropping, according to Fairlawn Mayor William Roth.  At Monday's Chamber of Commerce Luncheon, Roth delivered his State of the City address and stated 91 percent of crime in the city is theft/shoplifting. However, the number of juvenile crimes dropped 29 percent from 2011 and the number of drug-related crimes dropped 49 percent. The number of calls coming into the police department also dropped by 8 percent, Roth said. The department received 60,582 calls, and those range from something as simple as locking keys in the car to crimes. Car accidents went up 8 percent in 2012. In the Detective Bureau, investigators worked on 82 felony cases and had a 62 percent solve rate, Roth said. That's up from a 55 …
