Bartender tips will benefit the Copley Share a Christmas Program to make the holidays special for needy families in the Copley-Fairlawn area.
Want to have a drink poured or mixed by one of Copley and Fairlawn's finest? On Dec. 12 you can, and it's for a good cause! Officers and firemen from the Copley and Fairlawn police and fire departments will be guest bartenders at David B's from 6 to 11 p.m. on Dec. 12. All tips received are donated to the Copley Share a Christmas Program, which helps needy families in the Copley-Fairlawn area have a special Christmas. Last year, more than $5,000 was raised, said Copley Youth Services Coordinator Marcie Mason. That money was used to help more than 100 Copley-Fairlawn families. "We're hoping to get more than that this year," Mason said. "It's the largest contribution we get to the departments by far." Fundraiser coordinator Matt Beck said …

On Oct. 1, the Copley Police Department was called to the Motel 6, 99 Rothrock Loop, for a complaint about drugs and prostitution, a police report said. Officers met a 32-year-old Hudson woman in Room 133 and her supposed boyfriend. She gave officers consent to search the room and they found "evidence of prostitution" and drug paraphernalia, including burnt spoons, new and used syringes and crack pipes, the report said. Chief Michael Mier couldn't specify what the evidence of prostitution was, but said the man might have been the woman's pimp. Police charged the woman with possessing drug abuse instruments.

Patrolmen Ted Davis, Joel Moledor and Ben Campbell will be recognized by DeWine at the Law Enforcement Conference in Columbus for their acts of heroism in the line of duty.
Forget comic books and action movies, here's a story about three real heroes. This past November, Cuyahoga Falls Police officers Ted Davis and Joel Moledor rushed to a residence on Squires Bend after getting a report of a woman frantically screaming. When officers arrived, they could hear cries for help from behind a locked garage. Moledor kicked the door in and he and Davis confronted Eugene Roseling, 60, of Euclid, who was stabbing his wife to death. The officers subdued Roseling and saved the woman’s life. Roseling Hit With 11-Year Prison Sentence For the heroic act, the patrolmen will receive meritorious service awards during Attorney General Mike DeWine’s Law Enforcement Conference in Columbus on Oct. 25 and 26. "Officers Davis and …

These are the three most popular crime stories on the site this week.
Hands down, crime is one of the more popular topics on Fairlawn-Bath Patch, so we rounded up the three most popular crime stories this week, in case you missed it. A Revere High sophomore got in a fight with another student on a school bus and was later caught with a knife. A drunk Akron woman was kicked out of a Montrose hotel for hosting a loud party, and she had a lot to say to police about that. A Hudson woman and Twinsburg man made a plan to steal $700 of merchandise from Walmart. But their plan was foiled shortly after they drove away.

Edward Draher was 66, and police have not ruled out foul play.
A 66-year-old Copley man died in a house fire Thursday in Copley, according to a Copley Police Department press release. Edward Draher was found on the first floor of the home with a bullet wound in his head. The fire, at 1554 Earhart Ave., started around 11:30 a.m. and was under control by 12:45, said police Chief Michael Mier. The Copley Fire Department was assisted by Fairlawn Fire and Bath Fire departments. The Fairlawn fire investigation team said the fire was started intentionally and that Draher died from a gunshot wound to the head. Police found firearms in Draher's home, but have not determined if any of them caused his fatal injury. Police don't suspect any foul play, but they aren't ruling it out, either, Mier said. The friend …

She repeatedly yelled obscenities before finally getting in a car with a friend to go home. Officers followed the car with the woman in it until it stopped. The driver asked police to take the woman away because she was being too disruptive in the car. The two students were taken out of class and questioned by police Friday.
Two Copley High School sophomores were reported Friday morning for making "specific threats" against the school and marching band members on Facebook, according to Copley police Chief Michael Mier and Superintendent Brian Poe. The students were reported by fellow classmates. The 15-year-olds threatened to "kill students, detonate a bomb, and to plant an explosive device at a school event," according to a press release sent out by Mier. An 8-year-old Fort Island Primary student told police a man tried to lure her into his truck while she waited for the bus Wednesday morning, according to a statement Superintendent Brian Poe. The man pulled into her South Hametown Road (in Copley) driveway in a blue-green truck around 8:30 a.m. and motioned and yelled for her to get into his truck. When the girl refused, the man drove away, the statement said. The girl was not harmed and made it safely to school. Because the window was only partially rolled down, the girl could not describe the man to police. Copley-Fairlawn Schools reported the incident to the Copley Police Department, which is investigating. Copley Police said there have been no similar incidents reported this year and …
