Vito Sinopoli Accepts Bath Township Administrator Position

Sinopoli has served as a township police officer for the past 27 years.

After several months of deliberation, the Bath Township Trustees appointed Vito Sinopoli to fill the township administrator position. Sinopoli will transition into administration within a week. Sinopoli will replace Bill Snow who has been administrator since 2000. Snow announced he would retire in June to protect his pension from changes at the state level. Snow was then rehired in August for an interim period to help train whoever trustees picked as the new administrator. Snow's last day is March 31, 2013. Sinopoli grew up in Bath Township and has spent the past 27 years serving as a township police officer. Sinopoli will replace administrator Bill Snow pending the finalization of an employee agreement.

After several months of deliberation, the Bath Township Trustees have chosen Vito Sinopoli as the new township administrator. Sinopoli must sign a final employment agreement. Sinopoli will replace administrator Bill Snow. Snow announced he would retire in June to protect his pension from changes at the state level. Snow was then rehired in August as interim township administrator to help train whoever trustees picked as the new administrator. Poll: Who Would You Pick to Be Bath's Next Township Administrator?

The field has been narrowed to three applicants. Who would you choose?

The search for Bath Township's next township administrator has been narrowed to three applicants: Vito Sinopoli, Bill Snow and Sharon Troike. All three applicants already work within the district. The search started in June when Township Administrator Bill Snow announced he was retiring to protect his pension from changes at the state level.He said he wasn't ready to retire, but had to make the decision to protect himself and his family. He asked trustees to consider rehiring him. Thirty-three people applied for the position, said Trustee Becky Corbett.  At Monday's Bath Trustee Meeting, Trustee Elaina Goodrich made a motion to continue interviewing the three applicants. Series: Meet the Six Applicants for Bath Township Administrator

The Bath Township Trustees narrowed the field down to six applicants and we asked them all the same five questions.

In June, Bath Township Administrator Bill Snow announced he was retiring to protect his pension because of changes in Ohio Public Employee's Pension plan happening at the state level. Snow said he wasn't necessarily ready to retire, but had no choice. He then asked the trustees to consider rehiring him. Snow's retirement date was set for Aug. 31, and trustees began searching for the next administrator. Trustees rehired Snow on Aug. 10 for an interim period so he could help transition the new administrator. He will be with the township until March 31, 2013, unless he is fully rehired. Bath Township Police Officer is Detective of the Year

Award is made to police officers who investigate crimes against children.

Vito Sinopoli is being honored with this year's Lt. John “Ed” Duvall, Jr. Detective of the Year Award. The 26-year veteran of the Bath Township Police Department was nominated by Bath Chief Michael McNeely, who described Sinopoli's work in a 17-month sexual assault investigation of two children by a family member. The thoroughness of the investigation resulted in the offender entering negotiated no contest pleas to attempted rape and three counts of gross sexual imposition.  He was sentenced to a period of incarceration that exceeds his life expectancy.    The Duvall award honors the memory of the late Lt. John "Ed" Duvall, who dedicated himself to investigations of child abuse cases while with the Akron Police Department.  The award was …
