8 Revere Staff Members to Retire in 2013

The Revere Board of Education meets on April 16.

When the Revere school board meets on Tuesday, April 16, they will say goodby to eight staff members who are retiring. The following teachers have submitted their resignations to retire at the end of the 2012-13 school year:  The board will also look at contracts for window replacement at the middle school and ammend the agreement for student teaching with the University of Akron.

Barbara Jurecki-Humphrey, 67, Bath Elementary Teacher, Macrobiotic Cooking Instructor

She also wrote books on cooking and feng shui.

While teaching sixth-graders at Bath Elementary School in the 1980s, Barbara Jurecki-Humphrey began teaching classes in macrobiotic cooking at grocery stores, health expos and summer camps. Jurecki-Humphrey, who died Dec. 16 at age 67, wrote the book on cooking grains, legumes, vegetables and fruits slowly and for long periods of time in a crockpot or oven. In her self-published "Overnight Congee Cooklet and Resource Guide to Healthy Lifestyle," she advocated a diet low in meat, eggs, milk and sugar. The Cleveland native also gave lectures and consultations on feng shui, the Chinese art of balancing yin and yang in one's home.
