Winter Weather Advisory Until 4 p.m.

Three to five inches of snow will fall.

The snow may look pretty, but it's causing several accidents on Interstate 77 north in Bath Township. Meterologists at weather.com say 3 to 5 inches will accumulate over the next couple hours, stopping around 4 p.m. Another inch of snow will fall tonight. The Bath Township Police Department has been working since 11 a.m. today to clear several multi-car accidents on 77. The highway is down to one lane in several spots. To see what traffic is like before you leave your home, check out the Ohio Department of Transportation's website. If you take any great snow pictures today, be sure to send them our way. We want to see your snowmen, sled rides and back yards. Upload them here.

Get Your Snow Shovels Ready: One to Three Inches of Snow Is Coming

The snow will start falling tonight.

The light, misty rain of this afternoon will give way to snow later tonight, according to AOL meterologists. Less than one inch of snow will fall tonight, but we could see anywhere from one to three inches of snow accumulate tomorrow. If you're out and about when the snow starts to fall, be sure to take pictures and send them our way. We'd love to feature them in a snow photo gallery or in our Neighborhood Gallery. If you hear of any bad accidents, or slow traffic, keep us posted on that too. Before you head out, be sure to click on our Traffic and Gas tab to see where there might be congestion. And as always, be safe out there!

Lake Effect Snow Warning for Summit County

Flurries are expected to taper off today but roads remain snowy.

The National Weather Service has issued a lake effect snow warning for Summit County. The advisory ends at 7 p.m. Right now temps are in the high teens, with intermittent snow showers falling in the region. The fast-falling flakes are making the roads a bit tricky. Take a look at the Ohio Department of Transportation's interactive road map to check on road conditions in your area. Be sure to check the box labeled "Winter Conditions" in the left-side panel and then click on "Update Map" to see the reports.  Right now the site is reporting moderate snow and ice on state Route 18 near Stony Hill Road and moderate snow and ice on Interstate 77 just north of West Bath Road. And if you're interested in gas prices today or to check on traffic …

For Some, Winter Pain Won’t Go Away For a While

Injuries from icy accidents fill ERs, then therapy facilities.

On Super Bowl Sunday my son, Matt, went snowboarding at Boston Mills. An especially violent wipeout on a ramp that was way out of his league sent him to the emergency room at Akron Children’s Hospital, where an X-ray revealed a compression fracture in his lower back. Luckily, he is expected to make a complete recovery after a couple of months in a brace and physical therapy. He was wearing a helmet, or the result could have been much worse. He’s a lucky kid. He’ll be out of the brace in time to earn his driver’s license.  Dr. Michelle Blanda, chair of the Summa Health System Department of Emergency Medicine and Trauma Services, said, “With skiing and snowboarding injuries, we do see that in the younger population. The biggest thing with …

Be Careful Out There

The roads are still slick, including this hill on Ira Road in Bath Township

Traveling has been tedious during the first real winter storm in our area, but it doesn't have to be dangerous. Most roads in Fairlawn and Bath are passable if you take your time.
