Earlier this year, Fairlawn officials drove the streets and rated each one based on how badly it needed repaired. Mayor William Roth and Deputy Service Director Ernie Staten have picked the five worst and have nearly $2 to spend on some tender love and care. "We feel comfortable and really want to push the envelope this year," Roth said. "We're using inheritance tax and Permissive Tax Funds to pay for these repairs so we won't be assessing the residents." Roth also wants to spend $100,000 on concrete slab replacements. "There was one year where we couldn't do any road repair because of the economy," Roth said. "This way we will not incur debt and pay in cash." Summit County Engineer Alan Brubaker announced plans Monday to fix several Bath Township roads.
Even though we've had a pretty mild winter, the freezes and thaws have still had an effect on Bath Township roads. From the string of potholes along Ghent Road to the huge hole at the intersection of Cleveland-Massillon and Ghent, it's pretty rough out there. At Monday's Bath Township Trustees meeting, Summit County Engineer Alan Brubaker assured township officials that help is on the way.
