If the department knows where and when graduation parties are being hosted — it is easier to execute a successful patrol plan for officers.
Revere High School's graduation is on June 2 at 11 a.m. at the Akron Civic Center and after that, several parties will be planned to laud student's accomplishments. After all the preparations are done for the party, the Bath Township Police Department is asking party planners to do one more thing — register the party. The Bath, Richfield, Copley and Fairlawn police departments are providing a courtesy service for persons hosting parties in their jurisdiction for graduating seniors, according to the Bath Township police department website. Caroline O'Brien will go to New York to receive Gold Key honor
Revere High School senior Caroline O’Brien has won a National Gold Key Award for her colored pencil drawing, “Charlette’s Web.” She will travel to New York City for a ceremony at Carnegie Hall on May 31, at which actress and producer Sarah Jessica Parker will be the keynote speaker. Caroline is among 300 young artists from across the country selected to have her work displayed at the Scholastic Nation Art Exhibition in New York. More than 200,000 creative works from students in grades 7-12 were entered. Caroline won a Gold Key in regional competition before her piece was entered in the national contest, where 1,600 gold and silver medalists were chosen. Revere is the 45th best high school in Ohio, according to the annual rankings prepared by U.S. News & World Report. Copley was ranked 93rd in the state and 1,668th in the nation. Revere finished 1,085th nationally and recieved the silver medal. It fared well in participation in Advanced Placement courses (35 percent). Students are also 98 percent proficient in reading and 98 percent proficient in math, according to the magazine. Copley recieved the silver medal and was praised for its participation rate (24 percent) in Advanced Placement courses. Students at Revere High School see government in action
Bath Township trustees held their meeting this week at Revere High School so government students could see their local leaders in action. The trustees have a meeting at the school every year to help teach the students about local government, explaining the duties of Bath leaders and townships' role in Ohio. After regular business is conducted, the trustees open the meeting to questions from the students to the police and fire chief and other department heads. Session will be part of government class
Bath Township trustees will switch the time and location of their Monday meeting next week. The trustees will meet at 1:20 p.m. at Revere High School for the students in government class. The meeting will take place in Room 200 For more information, call 330-666-4007. The trustees, who would normally meet at 4 p.m. on Monday, occasionally have their session at the high school to benefit students studying how government operates.
