Michael Murphy will replace Phil Heyn who resigned in November.
Revere has named Michael Murphey as the new head football coach for the Minutemen. Murphy, who will officially be appointed at the Feb. 19 school board meeting, was hired for the job on Feb. 5, according to a press release. He is currently the offensive line coach for Case Western Reserve University and a school counselor at Kenston High School. Murphy was chosen from a field of more than 60 candidates to replace Phil Heyn who resigned in November. After Coach Phil Heyn's resignation, the Revere School District is looking for a replacement.
The search is on for a new head football coach at Revere High School. Former Coach Phil Heyn resigned Nov. 20 after serving for three years. His record with the Minutemen was 4-26. Six local teams play in the Revere Football Charity 7 on 7 Extravaganza.
The first Revere Football Charity 7 on 7 Extravaganza took place on Friday, July 29, 2011. Six local teams: Revere, Norton, Tallmadge, Marlington, Olmsted Falls and Northwestern played scrimmages and participated in a team skills challenge. In the varsity championship scrimmage, Tallmage defeated Marlington. Revere defeated Marlington in the JV scrimmage. Marlington also won the team skills challenge. Proceeds from this year's event go to Rush for a Cause, a charity for severely or tragically injured athletes founded by former Brecksville-Broadview Heights player Matt Galland.
