Many government organizations will observe Martin Luther King Jr. Day today. And before you head out, we wanted to let you know which ones are closed or have different hours because of the holiday. The following businesses are closed Monday: • Fairlawn City Hall, Bath Township Hall • Post offices • Banks • Akron Public Library System, including Fairlawn-Bath Branch. • Revere Local Schools • Copley-Fairlawn City Schools Organizations with adjusted hours include: • F.A. Seiberling Nature Realm open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you know of any other closings, please tell us in the comments.
Winter break ends during the first week of the year.
Students at Copley and Revere schools will start the new year sitting in a classroom. Revere students will return to school on Monday, Jan. 2 and Copley students return on Tuesday, Jan. 3. Their next day off will be for Martin Luther King Day on Jan. 16. At Copley, all of the sports banners that are hanging in the high school's main gym will be auctioned off by the Copley Adult All Sports Booster Club. The club will replace the old banners with new sport-specific banners that will list the years and accomplishments of the various championship teams. The auction will open Jan. 1 and close on May 1.
