Woman Caught Walking Out of Target with 23 Video Games

Information provided by the Fairlawn Police Department.

On Jan. 26, the security guard at Target watched a 48-year-old Akron woman puruse the Electronics Department before making her way to the video games, according to a Fairlawn police report. The woman pulled 23 different games off the shelf and began stuffing them in her handbag, the report stated.  The woman headed toward the exit and began to walk out when she was stopped by security. She had $454 of games in her bag. Police charged the woman with theft and she was banned from Target for one year.

Sam's Club Clerk Keeps Customer's Gift Card, Uses it in Walmart

Information provided by the Fairlawn Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

On Jan. 26, a Sam's Club clerk rang up an order for $151 and the customer paid with two gift cards, according to a Fairlawn police report. Each gift card was worth $100 and one gift card had $48 left on it when the transaction was done. Instead of giving that gift card back to the customer, the clerk kept it and gave the customer the empty one, the report stated. The customer later noticed they had the empty card and reported it to the store. After investigating and watching video, Sam's Club security saw the clerk take the card and use it next door at Walmart. The employee, 19, of Akron, admitted she stole the card and used it. Police charged her with theft.

Police: Woman Found Smoking Weed Outside Chuck E. Cheese

On Jan. 21, the manager of Chuck E. Cheese called police to report someone parked outside the exit smoking weed in their car, according to a Fairlawn police report. When the officer arrived, he walked up to the car and stated he could smell marijuana smoke coming out, the report stated. The officer asked the woman inside, 30, of Akron, if she was smoking weed and she turned over a half burnt marijuana cigar. Then she gave officers a false name and age, the report stated. When police finally figured out who she was, the officer charged her with drug possession and providing a fake name.

The closest I have ever seen marijuana come to harming anyone was during an air drop. We brought in 1100 pounds from Jamaica and dropped it in a peanut field in middle Georgia. The bales were dropped from a small plane at 125 feet altitude. One of the bales, about 80 pounds, missed my compadre by only a few feet... but it surely messed up his truck. Police: Man Caught Stealing at Walmart Also Had Stolen Car & Heroin Syringes

On Jan. 8, Walmart security called Fairlawn police about a Wadsworth man who was caught stealing merchandise, a report stated. Security saw Samuel D. Page, 38, of Wadsworth, take $63 of merchandise off the shelf, go into the men's restroom, walk out and walk out of the store without paying, the report stated. The guard caught him before he got away. When police arrived, they discovered Page had warrants through the Summit and Portage County Sheriff's Departments and the Wadsworth Police Department.  When police searched Page, they found keys to a PT Cruiser that had been reported stolen from Wadsworth. Man Grabs 2 Television Displays at Walmart, Walks Out the Door

On Jan. 3, a 30-year-old Copley man stole two TVs from a display in Walmart, according to a Fairlawn police report. The man grabbed two 40-inch TVs, put them in his cart, removed the sensors and headed toward the front of the store, the report reads. When security stopped the man at the doors, he pushed the cart away, ran to his car and drove away ... but not very far. Police found the man's car behind the Fidelity building and promptly charged him with theft, the report stated. The two TVs were valued at $836.

Man's Wallet Stolen from Dressing Room, Thief Makes Several Purchases Within Minutes

A trip to Summit Mall turned into a nightmare for a 53-year-old Brecksville man after someone stole his wallet from his fitting room, according to a Fairlawn police report. The man went into Jos. A. Bank on Jan. 4 to try on some pants. He went into a fitting room and later walked out leaving his jeans with his wallet inside. In the brief moment he was gone, someone took his wallet, the report stated. The man noticed his wallet was missing between 8 and 8:30 p.m. By 8:47 p.m. the thief had made three big-ticket purchases using three different credit cards at Target. The purchases were for $318 (at 8:47 p.m.), $415 (at 8:50 p.m.) and $457 (at 8:54 p.m.). The suspect tried to use another card for a purchase but it was declined, the report …

Woman Previously Banned from Express Shoplifts Again

On Dec. 28, employees in Summit Mall's Express store saw a woman who was previously banned in 2009 shopping around, according to a Fairlawn police report. The 21-year-old Akron woman was approached by mall security and the officer saw stolen clothing sticking out from under her clothes, the report stated. The woman had managed to stuff $501 of clothes under hers. Police charged the woman with theft and criminal trespass. She was taken to the Summit County Jail and banned from Summit Mall, the report stated.

This person came back to the same store to steal again because the punishment was too lax the first time. Why doesn't the law JAIL repeat offenders? Because it would 'hurt' their feelings?
