GOP presidential hopeful Mitt Romney's new running mate received a warm welcome at a rally on Thursday.
While many at Thursday's rally for GOP vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan said they were familiar with his political ideas, going to the event was all about seeing the the newly minted GOP vice presidential candidate in the flesh. Nearly 2,000 people turned out at Walsh University on Thursday to get a glimpse of the 42-year-old congressman and hear first-hand about his ideas and political philosophy. Ryan is on his second day of visits to small Ohio colleges. He made a campaign stop Wednesday at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio in solidly Republican Butler County. Vote was 9-2, passed as emergency legislation. There have been threats to a council member over plan; office now guarded by Summit County Sheriff's Department.
If all goes as planned, Bath Township will be represented by two Summit County Council representatives in 2013. Council voted 9-2 to move the township from District 1, represented by Nick Kostandaras, to districts 4 and 5, represented by Tamela Lee (4) and Frank Communale (5). Bath Township officials challenge the legality of passing the legislation as an emergency, which prevents them from trying to overturn the legislation by referendum. The new districts would join Bath Township with districts covering Cuyahoga Falls, Akron, Fairlawn and Copley Township (see attached map). Three incumbent members of the Revere Board of Education are not seeking re-election this year. The names of Board President Bill Hoover and members Joe Forcina and Mario Bonacci were not listed in the Summit County Board of Election filings released Thursday. Wednesday was the deadline to file for election. The terms for board members George Seifert and Claudia Hower are not up this year. Filing to compete for three open seats are Dana Appel of Oxbow Road, Ronald Bucci of Bent Branch Court., Thomas Kelley of Granger Road, Kary S. Lewis of Forestridge Drive, Michael J.
