On Jan. 21, the manager of Chuck E. Cheese called police to report someone parked outside the exit smoking weed in their car, according to a Fairlawn police report. When the officer arrived, he walked up to the car and stated he could smell marijuana smoke coming out, the report stated. The officer asked the woman inside, 30, of Akron, if she was smoking weed and she turned over a half burnt marijuana cigar. Then she gave officers a false name and age, the report stated. When police finally figured out who she was, the officer charged her with drug possession and providing a fake name.

On Jan. 8, Walmart security called Fairlawn police about a Wadsworth man who was caught stealing merchandise, a report stated. Security saw Samuel D. Page, 38, of Wadsworth, take $63 of merchandise off the shelf, go into the men's restroom, walk out and walk out of the store without paying, the report stated. The guard caught him before he got away. When police arrived, they discovered Page had warrants through the Summit and Portage County Sheriff's Departments and the Wadsworth Police Department. When police searched Page, they found keys to a PT Cruiser that had been reported stolen from Wadsworth. In the car, they found two syringes — one loaded with heroin, the report stated. On June 20, a Bath Township police officer was patrolling on Medina Line Road when he came across a car at a party parked against the flow of traffic, a report said. The officer pulled over and walked up to the home where the car was parked in an attempt to find the driver, the report said. When the officer walked into the garage, he found several pieces of illegal drug contraband sitting on a table. Officers found nine marijuana pipes, two marijuana grinders, and a marijuana cigarette roller, according to the report. When a juvenile saw the police officer in the garage, he admitted the contraband was his. The officer charged two juveniles with possession of drug paraphernalia and they were released to their parents.

A Cleveland man was arrested Monday for felony drug possession after he was detained in connection with a petty theft. According to a police report, a Target employee saw two men in the electronics section at about 4:16 p.m. Monday; one used an utility knife to cut a cell phone from its display while the other acted as a lookout. Both men left the store without paying for the phone, which was valued at $179.99. Officers found the men and a female passenger in a white Kia in the store parking lot. A search of the license plate showed that driver Ivan K. Muntyan, 26, of Cleveland, was wanted on two warrants and was driving on a suspended license. The closest I have ever seen marijuana come to harming anyone was during an air drop. We brought in 1100 pounds from Jamaica and dropped it in a peanut field in middle Georgia. The bales were dropped from a small plane at 125 feet altitude. One of the bales, about 80 pounds, missed my compadre by only a few feet... but it surely messed up his truck.
