Forget to License Your Pup? Get Your Late Fee Waived with a Donation

Donate a can of dog food at four Acme locations on Saturday to have the late fee waived.

Did you miss the deadline for getting a license for your pooch? Avoiding that late fee is as simple as making a donation. On July 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at four Summit County Acme Fresh Market stores County Executive Russ Pry and Fiscal Officer Kristen Scalise will sponser Can Do!, a one-day program that provides amnesty to Summit County dog owners purchasing 2012 tags. Owners who failed to purchase their dog's tags before the deadline will have the $14 late fee waived if they donate a can of dog food to Summit County Animal Control. 2012 Dog Licenses are Available for Purchase

Dog owners should renew their licenses before Jan. 31 deadline to avoid late fee.

It's that time of year; It's time to renew your dog's license. As of Dec. 1, the 2012 dog license was made available to purchase at the Fiscal Office Service Department and at local vendors such as the Bath Veterinary Clinic and License Bureau in Fairlawn. You can find other locations here. And in response to the many requests made by dog owners during renewal time, this year the Summit County's Fiscal Office is offering online payments. The cost to renew a dog license is $14; local vendors are required by law to add a 75 cents service charge. Dog owners should look for their renewal applications in the mail.
