On Saturday evening, the Ohio State Highway Patrol will conduct a drunken driving checkpoint somewhere in Portage County. The exact location of the checkpoint won't be released until Saturday morning. The checkpoint, funded by federal grant funds, is planned to deter and intercept impaired drivers. "Based on provisional data, there were 332 OVI-related fatal crashes in which 359 people were killed last year and 7,507injured in Ohio," Lt. Nakia Hendrix, commander of the Ravenna Post, said. "State troopers make on average 25,000 OVIarrests each year in combating these dangerous drivers.
