Fairlawn Police Blotter: Local Chef Gets a Goose Egg, a Money Order Scam and More.

Assault A P.F. Chang’s employee was allegedly assaulted by a co-worker during a disciplinary meeting at the restaurant on Thursday (Sept.22). According to the police report, culinary partner Frank Defer sustained a minor injury when employee Tori T. Smith lunged across the office and struck Defer on top of the head with a closed fist. Another employee at the meeting grabbed Smith and pushed him out of the office. Smith was last seen fleeing the restaurant. Police said Defer suffered “an egg-sized hematoma” on the left side of his head.  He declined medical treatment.   Police have issued a warrant for Smith, who was being terminated at the meeting. Fairlawn Police Blotter: A Food Court Fight, Man Escapes After Attempted Football Video Theft Despite Coverage and More

Robbery A saleswoman from Buckle in Summit Mall was attacked in the food court when asked to search the purse of a suspected shoplifter. Store employee Estelle Mallory told police she saw two woman examining jeans, then leave Buckle Sept. 17 at about 3:30 p.m. The women did not stop when asked, when something they were carrying set off the store alarm senors at the door. Mallory followed the women into the food court and asked one to examine her purse. When the woman refused, the clerk told police she grabbed the purse and was thrown to the ground, punched and kicked. The alleged attacker left the food court with her companion. Four Pounds of Cocaine Seized in Bath Township

Car chase ends up in Richfield. One suspect injured.

Four Cleveland men were arrested and police seized more than 4 pounds of cocaine $47,000 in cash outside a shopping center in Bath Township. Bath Township Police Chief Mike McNeely said he was told the Akron drug unit would be making a "drug buy bust" at the shopping center on Medina Road in the Acme Plaza.   Akron Police recovered the cocaine and said one suspect led them on a brief car chase up Interstate 77. The fleeing man is being treated in an Akron hospital for a broken leg. Richfield Police Lt. Tim Baker said the crash occurred when the suspect lost control while trying to run from police on the Wheatly Road exit off I-77. Fairlawn Police Blotter: Methamphetamine Discovered at Traffic Stop and more

Drug possession, illegal assembly of drugs, illegal manufacture of drugs  Fairlawn Police stopped a car for an equipment violation at 12:48 a.m. Saturday, (Sept. 10) at 3265 W. Market and discovered the driver, Deanna Reynolds, 45, of Norton, was driving with a suspended license.  Police found a small box containing plastic baggies filled with white powder during a search of the car, over-the-counter medication that could be used in the manufacture of methamphetamines, a lock-blade knife and what police described as a stun device. The powder tested positive for methamphetamine.  According to the report, passenger Thomas A. Grubbs, 44, of Akron, told police the box and the baggies belonged to him. Both Reynolds and Grubbs were arrested on …

Fairlawn Police Blotter: Woman Hides Jewelry in Her Pantyhose, Roommate Pulls Shotgun and More.

Theft, drug abuse and tampering with drugs: A woman was seen taking several items of clothing and jewelry into a changing room at Macy’s at Summit Mall, then leaving the store without paying for the items. According to a police report, Darcy N. Heerema, 39, of Doylestown was stopped outside the store. During a search, police discovered $1,295 of jewelry concealed in her pantyhose. Heerema was arrested for felony theft and taken to Fairlawn, where three oxycodone and clonazepam pills were found in her purse, along with a short blue straw with white residue. Fairlawn Police Blotter: Man Loses Paycheck in Good Deed; a Ford Explorer Sundae and More

Theft: A man was robbed of his paycheck by a panhandler at about 7 p.m. May 27. The victim told police that he was approached by a man outside the front doors of Walmart just after he had cashed his check inside the store.  The man asked for money; the victim told police he refused, then drove his car to Earth Fare across West Market Street. At Earth Fare, the victim said he was approached by the same man, who asked for money again.  The victim told police he took out a bundle of bills, $416 in all, and gave the man $1. According to the police report, the victim was robbed when the panhandler took the wad of bills instead of shaking hands. The panhandler was last seen getting into an older Nissan Sentra in the parking lot, which speeded …
