Fairlawn Tax Rates Shifting in 2013

Here are the numbers that make up Fairlawn's property tax bills this year.

Updated 5:04 p.m., Jan. 23 Akron Public Schools The tax rate of Fairlawn residents paying into the Akron Public Schools rose by 8.06 mills this year, according to data provided by The Plain Dealer and Cleveland.com. Homeowners will pay $2,167 for every $100,000 in home value this year, up from $1,920 last year, according to the database. The increase adds up to $247 a year per $100,000 to a property owner's tax bill. Overall millage stands at 70.75 this year, compared to 62.69 in 2012. The Akron Public Schools district gets the largest share of your taxes, with 51.83 mills costing $1,587 per $100,000 in valuation. Summit County gets the next-highest amount, or $387 at 12.62 mills. Copley-Fairlawn Board OKs Hires, Financial Statements

Two new staffers introduced to board.

With the conference room at Copley High School nearly as hot as the 98 degree outdoors because of a broken down air conditioning chiller, the Copley-Fairlawn school board wasted no time getting down to business Tuesday evening. In a 20-minute meeting the board: • Adopted the treasurer’s recommendations for financial statements, petty cash funds for the 2012-2013 school year, student teacher stipends and accepting donations toward the schools • Approved a set of goals for the school board, essentially carrying over from last school year. • Approved the superintendent’s recommendations for textbooks, an overnight eighth-grade field trip to Washington, D.C., and several personnel recommendations Denise Cirino, the new director of pupil …
