Fugitive Of The Week Faces Robbery, Kidnapping & Burglary Charges

Everton Gillings -- a man suspected of participating in a home invasion -- is the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force’s fugitive of the week

The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force is offering a reward for information that leads to the capture of fugitive Everton Gillings, who is accused of robbing people at gunpoint. Gillings is wanted by the U.S. Marshals and the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office. He faces charges of kidnapping, aggravated burglary and eight counts of aggravated robbery with a firearm. All of these charges stem from an alleged home invasion that happened in September of 2012, according to the Task Force. Gillings is a 20-year-old black man. He is about 5 feet, seven inches tall and weighs 150 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. Gillings is believed to be hiding somewhere in the Collinwood neighborhood. Bath Police: Burglar Arrested Following Manhunt

Alton S. Dubrock, 54, of Butler, Pa., was arrested Monday night in Bath Township after an alleged attempted home invasion.

They got him. Alton S. Dubrock was arrested by Bath Township police in a wooded area off the 4200 block of Big Spruce Drive at 7:45 p.m. Monday. Police were hunting Dubrock, 54, of Butler, Pa. Police say he tried to break into an occupied home in the 3900 block of North Shore Drive at 6:32 p.m. Monday.  According to Bath Police Chief Michael McNeely, Dubrock kicked in the door of the residence, but fled once he heard a woman's screams from inside the home.  "Police officers from Bath, Fairlawn, Copley and Akron set up a containment perimeter in the Crystal Shores neighborhood," said McNeely. Thieves Disable Alarms, Attempt to Rob Bath Township Homes: Crime Alert

Several Crystal Lake area homeowners in Bath Township have been victims of burglaries or attempted burglaries, according to Bath police Chief Michael McNeely. On Oct. 8 around 3:53 a.m., a North Shore Drive homeowner was stirred awake by a loud boom that he said shook the house. When the homeowner went to investigate, he found that his phones lines had been cut, disarming the alarm that alerts police, and that someone had tried to get into his home through the garage, McNeely said. McNeely is unsure what the loud boom was caused by, but it appeared that suspects were hitting the side of the garage trying to get in. Thieves were unsuccessful. Bath Township Man's Car, TVs Stolen by Burglar

On Sept. 28, someone broke into a Harvest Drive man's home and stole his 2013 Chevrolet Volt from his garage, according to a Bath Township police report.  The burglar also stole some of his big screen televisions and a safe with money in it, said police Chief Michael McNeely. The value of the stolen merchandise is unknown. However, police did find the man's car abandoned at the Hunt Club Apartments in Copley, McNeely said. It was returned to the man on Oct. 2.  Police were able to pull finger prints and DNA samples out of the car and it is being investigated at a lab, McNeely said. He also believes this burglary is related to several burglaries in Medina city.

Man Robs Owasso Avenue Home, Caught Later by Akron Police

An Owosso Avenue man left his house at 6:20 a.m. on Aug. 14 and came home around 8 p.m. to find he had been robbed, according to a Fairlawn police report. The deadbolt on his back door was open and the living room window was broken where the suspect got in, the report said. The suspect stole a laptop, eight credit cards, a watch and a coin jar. Witnesses told police they saw a man with a book bag get into a black PT Cruiser. The Akron Police Department had been handling several west Akron burglaries and Fairlawn police reported this one, which had similarities with the others, the report said. Bath Township Woman's Dog Stops Burglary from Progressing

Some time between 11 p.m. and 2 a.m. on Aug. 15 and Aug. 16, a Medina Line Road woman was woken from sleep by her barking dog, according to a Bath Township police report. At first the woman thought her dog was barking at an animal, which isn't uncommon, she told police. However, when the woman walked into her kitchen, she found out it was more human than animal. Her kitchen window, which was left slightly open for ventilation, was forced open by someone, the outside and inside window frame was damaged and the open/close mechanism was busted, the report said. Police canvassed the neighborhood, but no one was found. There are no witnesses or suspects, and the police say they believe the dog's bark stopped the thief from burglarizing the home.

Dog Days Daycare Robbed, Police Have No Suspects

Sometime overnight between July 17 and July 18, someone pried open the back door to Dog Days, 2425 Cleveland-Massillon Road, and robbed the store, said Bath Township police. Thieves took about $300 from the cash register, but nothing else was taken. Chief Michael McNeely said there were no dogs in the building. This is the first time Dog Days has been robbed, McNeely said, but about six years ago another store in the plaza was robbed and the suspects were caught. There are no suspects in this case and thieves left little to follow, McNeely said.

TV, Game Console Stolen from Chamberlain Road Apartment

On June 9, a Chamberlain Road apartment renter left his home for the weekend and returned to find his side door open, according to a Fairlawn police report. Someone forced his door open, breaking the door latch and frame, the report said. Thieves stole his 47-inch television, DVD player and Wii game console and accessories. The items were valued at $1,019, the report said. Police found fingerprints, which are being investigated by a crime unit. Neighbors said they noticed the man's door open, but did not see anyone go in or out. Police are investigating.
