Copley-Fairlawn school board member Julie Schafer was given an honorary gavel for serving as board president.
At Thursday's Copley-Fairlawn school board meeting, newly re-elected members Julie Schafer, Kenneth Calderone and Richard Levin were sworn in by board member Jessica Vargo. Later, members elected Vargo to be the new board president, and Calderone to be the new vice president. The former president was Schafer. For her year of service, Superintendent Brian Poe awarded Schafer with an honorary gavel. "I want to thank the people who are here for being here," Schafer said to meeting attendees. "When I'm out in the public and I'm recognized by people for what I've done, I'm proud of our school district. It's been such a pleasure serving you."
