Two new staffers introduced to board.
With the conference room at Copley High School nearly as hot as the 98 degree outdoors because of a broken down air conditioning chiller, the Copley-Fairlawn school board wasted no time getting down to business Tuesday evening. In a 20-minute meeting the board: • Adopted the treasurer’s recommendations for financial statements, petty cash funds for the 2012-2013 school year, student teacher stipends and accepting donations toward the schools • Approved a set of goals for the school board, essentially carrying over from last school year. • Approved the superintendent’s recommendations for textbooks, an overnight eighth-grade field trip to Washington, D.C., and several personnel recommendations Denise Cirino, the new director of pupil …

Hoover, Bonacci, Forcina bow out of race.
Three incumbent members of the Revere Board of Education are not seeking re-election this year. The names of Board President Bill Hoover and members Joe Forcina and Mario Bonacci were not listed in the Summit County Board of Election filings released Thursday. Wednesday was the deadline to file for election. The terms for board members George Seifert and Claudia Hower are not up this year. Filing to compete for three open seats are Dana Appel of Oxbow Road, Ronald Bucci of Bent Branch Court., Thomas Kelley of Granger Road, Kary S. Lewis of Forestridge Drive, Michael J. Board hires intervention specialist for Hillcrest Elementary School, goes into executive session.
The Revere Board of Education spent about 10 minutes deliberating the merits of extending days in the 2011-2012 school year for certified and licensed staff, particularly counselors and librarians, before deciding in a 3-1 vote to approve Superintendent Randy Boroff’s recommendations. George Seifert voted against the measure. William Hoover was absent. The recommendations by Boroff were meant to offset some of the time cut out of the 2010-2011 budget for the staff to process transcripts and other information that extends beyond the regular school year. Phil King comes from Parma City School District.
Revere Local Schools announced at its regular meeting Tuesday that Phil King would be the new Revere High School principal. King comes from the Parma City School District, where he most recently was deputy principal at Parma High School. “Phil impressed the search committee with his passion and his thoughtful answers to the interview questions,” said Revere Superintendent Randy Boroff. “During my reference checks, I contacted past colleagues, administrators, current supervisors as well as the current superintendent of the Parma district.
