16-Year-Old Caught Stealing Jewelry from T.J. Maxx

On Jan. 12, T.J. Maxx security watched three girls walk into the store and start shopping, according to a Bath Township police report. Security saw one 16-year-old pick up two sets of bracelets and put them in her purse. The girl and her friends began to walk out of the store, but security stopped the 16-year-old, the report said. The girl gave security the two bracelets plus one she wore out of the store. They were valued at $58.  Police charged the girl with delinquency by means of theft and she was released to her uncle. The girl's friends are not suspected of theft.

Bath Police Catch Man Hiding Near Bank with Data Skimmer, 3 Fake IDs

The Bath Police Department got a call on Oct. 16 about a "suspicious man" hiding in the bushes of the Courtyard Marriott on Springside Drive, said Chief Michael McNeely. When police drove to the area, they saw 35-year-old Richard Howiler, of Akron, run from the bushes. He was carrying a black duffel bag, McNeely said. Police chased Howiler down and found he had three fake IDs and a data skimmer in his bag, McNeely said. Criminals place data skimmers on bank ATMs and they mimic the slot where customers slide their debit card. Bath Man Snaps Photo of 'Offensive' Acme Employee, Fight Ensues

A Bath Township man was in the Acme Fresh Market parking lot on Sept. 12 when he heard an Acme employee allegedly say something offensive, according to a Bath police report. Bath police Chief Michael McNeely said the man heard the employee use inappropriate language, so he walked up to the employee and snapped his photo with his cell phone. The employee followed the man into the store and they both started yelling, the report said. McNeely said the employee took the man's phone and threw it through the store. The fight did not get physical, but the report said the employee threatened the man. However, the man did not want the police to investigate the threat. My daughter used to work at that store. You should hear some of the stories she told me about the rude customers. It is pretty hard to constantly deal with that, particularly when you aren't paid that well. Working the registers is the worst. T.J. Maxx Shoplifters Swipe Several Items, Only Make Off with Dress

On Sept. 6, T.J. Maxx security saw two women walking around the store. He saw one grab three DKNY wallets and stick them in her purse, a Bath Township police report said. The woman walked over to the shoe department and proceeded to stuff two pairs of Coach shoes into her purse, the report said. After that, she grabbed two Calvin Klein dresses and put them both on one hanger before entering a dressing room. When the woman came out of the dressing room, she didn't have anything. The women began walking out the of the store and the security guard was able to grab the purse before both women ran and drove off in a white Pontiac Grand Am, the report said. Thief Stuffs Red Bull in His Pants, Gets Away

On Aug. 27, a man walked into the Shell True North gas station store and headed toward the Red Bull energy drinks, according to a Bath Township police report. The man grabbed 16 cans, stuffed them in his pants, ran out of the store, and jumped into an Oldsmobile that was registered stolen out of Akron, the report said. Police searched the area but did not find the man or the car.

Bath Police Search for Man Who Passed Fake $100 Bills in Montrose Plaza

The Bath Township Police Department is looking for a "person of interest" in reference to a counterfeit currency incident, said Chief Michael McNeely. On July 25, a "heavy-set Hispanic" man passed a fake $100 bill at T.J. Maxx and Old Navy, according to the police reports. The man stopped at T.J. Maxx first and made a purchase before heading to Old Navy. At Old Navy, he made a $20 purchase at received $78 in change, the report said. The man was said to be tall and wearing a light blue or denim shirt with Khaki shorts, the report said. Police were not able to find the man, but they are calling him a "person of interest," and wish to speak with him about the situation. Call the Bath Police Department with tips at 330-666-3736.

Three Juveniles Caught Stealing Food, Balloons From Acme

Security personnel from Acme Fresh Market saw three juveniles, ages 9, 10 and 14, walk into the store on June 28, according to a Bath Township police report. As the kids walked around the store, they stopped in certain aisles, grabbed items off the shelf and put them in a backpack, the report said. Bath police Chief Michael McNeely said the kids took balloons, food and "other kid stuff" off the shelf before trying to leave the store without paying. The boys were stopped on their way out by security and admitted to stealing. They were released to their mother and stepfather after the 14-year-old was charged with theft, the report said.

Man Wires Money to Seller on Cars.com, Doesn't Get His Car

A Bath Township man was prowling the Internet at the end of May for the new car of his dreams, according to a Bath Township Police Department. The man settled on a car from Cars.com for $19,150, the report said. The seller had the man wire the money to North Carolina on May 31. The victim still doesn't have the car and he hasn't heard from the seller since. The man reported the theft on June 7. Bath police Chief Mike McNeely said the department did its due diligence to find all the information the man was using, but they haven't found the seller.

McBusted: Man Caught in McDonald's Drive-Thru with Marijuana

A Bath Township police officer watched a silver Chevrolet Impala pull into the Medina Road McDonald's on June 1, and noticed the car had heavily tinted windows, according to a report. The officer checked the license plate and found the owner's driving privileges had been suspended. The officer waited for the car to go through the drive-thru before initiating a traffic stop. When the officer approached the car, the smell of "burnt marijuana" came out, the report said. When the officer searched the car, he found a bag of it in the glove box. Officers charged the driver with drug abuse, tinted windows and driving on a suspended license.
