Police arrested a man for drunken driving May 2 -- but not before he hit the same car twice as he tried to park. A report said the man was weaving on Cleveland-Massillon Road, swerving into oncoming traffic about 7:15 p.m. With an officer following, the man turned onto Bath Road and into the Bath Elementary School parking lot, where he tried to pull into a parking space, striking another car. He then tried to back out, but, with police blaring a siren, he stopped, a report said. The officer told him to put the vehicle in park, but he did not, and the car rolled forward, hitting the same car for a second time. The officer had to reach in the window and put the car in park himself, the report said. The man failed field sobriety tests. …

A fast-talking con man swindled an employee at JoAnn Fabric on Medina Road out of nearly $100 April 21. A report said the man went to a register to buy a pack of needles for $1.58. He then used a quick-change technique to confuse the cashier into giving him various denominations of bills for change. He ended up leaving with $99.81. The only description of the suspect was a middle-aged African American man.

A burglar went to a large amount of trouble to get into a Round Hill Drive home, but apparently left without taking anything. A report said residents found about someone had kicked in the back garage door, and also the interior door to the house about 3:30 p.m. April 25. But inside, nothing was in disarray and nothing seemed to be missing, the report said. An investigation is continuing. Inside Job? A Larkspur Lane resident went to police April 23 to say she had discovered several items missing from her sterling silverware collection. The woman said she had a medical issue in January and suspects the culprit was one of the home health care aides who visited. There were no signs of force entry into the home.

Con artists have been busy in Fairlawn and Bath with some clever crimes
A series of unrelated scams has been reported in the area in the last few weeks -- some of them crafty enough to fool residents and local employees, at least for awhile. Some examples: • A man claiming to work for a distributor went into at least two Giant Eagle stores saying he needed to check the inventory for expired beer. He walked out of each with several cases of Corona and Miller Lite. • A woman went into a Bath business claiming she was owed a refund for drinks she'd purchased earlier. She claimed she'd spoken with another employee who told her to stop back in to get her money. • A Fairlawn man was conned out of more than $11,000 when someone called to say his nephew was in trouble in Bolivia. • A woman returned a DVD player to …

The following information was provided by the Bath Township Police Department
Employees at Five Below called police about 1:40 p.m. April 13 for a shoplifting in progress. When police arrived, they apprehended a woman fleeing on foot. Once caught, the woman reached inside her coat and handed over 37 video games, five DVDs and a flashlight. The items were valued at $215. The woman, 35, was charged with theft and the merchandise was returned to the store. Turf War A dispute between two panhandlers over a spot on North Cleveland-Massillon Road turned violent April 13, a report said. Police said one of the men pulled a pocket knife and opened the blade as the two argued over who would get the spot outside Speedway. Girl will be charged for saying she was assaulted at Revere High School basketball game
A 15-year-old girl is being charged with making a false police report after claiming she was raped at a Revere High School basketball game in December. The girl told police she was assaulted by a white male teen during a boys basketball game Dec. 7. But Police Chief Michael McNeely said in a press release that "the allegation was determined to be false after a lengthy and thorough investigation by Bath police." Evidence collected during the investigation disproved her report, and the girl later admitted the report was false, the news release said. The charge against the girl, a first-degree misdemeanor, is pending in Summit County Juvenile Court. Bath police credited cooperation by the Revere Local Schools administration with helping …

In an unusual twist on credit card fraud, an Oxbow Road man told police someone used his company credit card to order items -- and had them sent to his address. The man received chocolates and miscellaneous small gifts, a report said. The charges showed up on his credit card. The crimes took place between March 17 and 24, and were reported April 1. Child Targeted on Instagram A towship resident went to police after someone attached his fifth-grade son's name to pornographic material on Instagram. The man told police April 5 the items were sent to a number of the boy's classmates. The youth does not have an Instagram account, the dad said. He said he also intends to pursue the matter with the school administration.
