Fugitive Accused of Attacking Housing Authority Security Guard

Jerrell Warren -- a man charged with aggravated assault -- is the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force’s fugitive of the week

The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force is offering a reward for information which would lead to the capture of Jerrell Warren, a fugitive accused of assaulting a housing authority security guard. He is charged with aggravated assault and wanted by the U.S. Marshals and the Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority Police Department. Warren is suspected of being in the lobby of the CMHA high rise building located at 1675 Ansel Rd. on Jan. 20. Warren was intoxicated and disorderly, according to police. He was told to leave the premises by a guard, but Warren refused to leave and punched a security guard in the face, according to the task force. Caught! 'Fugitive of the Week' Nabbed in Cleveland

Tip to U.S. Marshal's office led to Roy Young's arrest.

The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force’s “Fugitive of the Week"  was arrested in Cleveland today, U. S. Marshal Peter J. Elliot confirmed. Roy Young Jr. was caught just after 1 p.m. on Dec. 11, one day after being named Fugitive of the Week. Young was initially believed to be hiding in Lorain County. "We grabbed him this afternoon," Elliot, of the Northern District of Ohio Marshal's office, said. "We caught him in the 3400 block near West 120th in Cleveland." Elliot said it was a hotline tip that led to Young’s arrest. "We arrested him there," Elliot said. "He was not armed." Elliot said Young was alone when arrested. He expected Young would first be held in Cleveland and then transferred to Lorain County, where he was wanted by the…

Copley-Fairlawn Student Charged with Assault After In-School Brawl

Police were called to Copley High School on Nov. 7 after a fight broke out during the school day, according to a Copley police report. The aggressor got upset after the victim accused him of throwing beads, according to the report. The teacher asked the boy to calm down after taking him out into the hallway. After class, the boy waited for the victim to walk out of the classroom, knocked him down and started punching him in the head, according to the report. A student stopped the fight.  Both boys are 14 years old. The aggressor was suspended for 10 days and Copley Police charged him with delinquency by means of assault. The victim told police his head was sore but he was OK.

Boyfriend Throws Girlfriend to Ground in Red Lobster Fight

A family dinner got a little awkward on Nov. 9 at Red Lobster when a man threw his 17-year-old girlfriend to the ground, according to a Bath Township police report. The victim told police she and her 22-year-old boyfriend got into a fight and he threw her down and left. Chief Michael McNeely said the victim was sitting at a table with family, but everyone refused to cooperate with police in terms of what they saw. McNeely said police followed up with the victim the next day and she didn't not require medical attention. She did not wish to press charges, McNeely said.

Man Assaults Chuck E. Cheese Manager for Not Allowing Outside Beverages

A 25-year-old Hartville father took his three children to Chuck E. Cheese on Sept. 29 but quickly left after assaulting the manager over bringing in a bottle of tea.  According to a Fairlawn police report, the manager called police after he told the man he couldn't bring his bottle of tea into the establishment. The man started arguing with the manager and grabbed him by the neck. The report said there were several witnesses and the incident was caught on security cameras.  Police caught up with the man near Target and charged him with assault. Woman Punches Victim for Defending Her Child from Verbal Abuse

The Fairlawn Police Department got several calls about a fight brewing in the Walmart parking lot on Sept. 9, according to a report. The victim told police he saw a woman in her 20s yelling abusively at her child inside the store and heard an older woman tell the woman not to talk to her child that way, the report said. The victim heard the suspect tell the older woman that she would be waiting outside the store for her. The man followed the older woman outside and the suspect was waiting there and started yelling and screaming at her. The victim intervened so the older woman wouldn't get hurt and told the woman she shouldn't talk to her child that way and the woman slugged him in the face, the report said. Akron Man Accused of Choke Slamming Woman in Rockne's Lot

A 56-year-old Akron man is accused of grabbing a woman by the throat and throwing her down in the Rockne's parking lot on May 20, according to a Fairlawn police report. Police say Mack Blanks followed the 52-year-old victim to the restaurant and started a fight with her in the parking lot. Several witnesses said they saw him grab her and throw her to the ground, the report said. When police arrived, Blanks tried to leave the scene by getting in his car, however he was blocked in the back and front by police cruisers. Blanks still tried to get away and backed into one cruiser twice, the report said. Finally, police arrested Blanks and charged him with violating a protection order and assault. He was taken to the Summit County Jail.

Bicyclist Assaults Yellow Creek Road Man For Asking About His Helmet

A North Royalton man is accused of assaulting a Yellow Creek Road man after he asked where the biker's helmet was, according to a Bath Township police report. On May 13, the 54-year-old bicyclist, who frequently rides from Cleveland into Akron, rode past the victim's Yellow Creek Road home while the victim was cutting his grass. According to the biker, the man asked him "Where's your helmet?" Bath police Chief Michael McNeely said the biker told the victim it was "up his rear end, so to speak," the chief said. The biker rode away and then came back and asked the homeowner why he asked about the helmet, hit him and then rode away again, the report said. The victim got in his car and followed the bicyclist until officers caught up with them …

Walmart Associate Assaulted by Another Woman Over Ex-Boyfriend

An 18-year-old Akron woman walked into Walmart on April 3 and began punching a Walmart associate in the face, according to Fairlawn police. The 19-year-old victim told police that the woman asked her if she wanted to fight and began punching her face, which knocked her to the ground. The woman then grabbed the victim by her hair and started slamming her head on the ground. Police said the two women had prior conflicts over an ex-boyfriend. An warrant was issued for the 18-year-old's arrest, but she turned herself in to police the next day and was released with a court summons.
