Whether it’s on the baseball diamond, at the soccer field or during a flag football game at a local park, spring sports are underway around Fairlawn and Bath and we want to help share all the great moments and highlights with the community! Patch is looking for athletes, coaches, parents, booster club members and fans who are eager to show their team spirit on Fairlawn-Bath Patch. News about any team – from youth t-ball to middle and high school sports, recreational teams, adult leagues and more – it’s all welcome. The camps feature two 2-hour sessions and comprehensive teaching; participants receive two free tickets, walk in on-field parade
Batter up, kids! The Cleveland Indians is offering a summer camp for children ages 6-14 in eight area suburbs, including Bath Township. Each camp cosists of two 2-hour sessions and will take a comprehensive approach to teaching the game of baseball. Summer Camp instructors will focus on throwing, catching, fielding, hitting and base running, according to a prepared statement. Earn rewards while getting exercise and fresh air
Hikers can enjoy flat, easy trails in the Summit Metro Parks' Spree for All program, which runs May 1 through June 30. It's the 10th year for the program, which encourages hikers -- people on foot, with strollers, wheelchairs, walkers and canes -- to get out and enjoy nature and some exercise. To receive free rewards, participants must complete five hikes – on five different trails, the same trail or any combination of trails – and submit a completed hiking form. Hikes are free for everyone. First-year hikers earn a neck lanyard and commemorative pin. Veteran hikers earn the commemorative pin. Barry Thoman said on Facebook that he's safe at the hotel and asked his friends to pray for his fellow runners.
Runner Barry Thoman of Fairlawn told his Facebook friends that he's OK after finishing the Boston Marathon Monday. Two bomb blasts that killed two and injured between 50 and 100 people at the finish line of the Boston Marathon have many wondering about their loved ones participating in the race. Thoman finished the race at 1:07 p.m., according to the Boston Marathon results web page. He said on Facebook at about 6 p.m. Monday: We're at our hotel, safe, and north of Logan Airport. Please pray for my fellow Boston runners and their families!!
