LOOK: Town Gathers for Bath Community Day Festivities

Parade, children's games, cake and live music bring out Bath businesses, residents.

Everything's better in Bath, a volunteer's orange shirt read. But Saturday it was, he added as he passed out fliers before the Bath Community Day parade.

Children and adults alike were all smiles as the police cars and sirens signaled the parade's arrival along West Bath Road. Fourty-three listed people, organizations and businesses walked, drove or waved from floats through the parade.

All the while, they tossed candy children scampered to collect. They were street cleaners, one adult watching commented — except for one broken Life Saver. A girl ran over toward the candy but opted not to add it to her goody bag.

After the last participant returned the laminent numbered sign, watchers gathered their belongings and returned to their cars. Many headed to where the festivities continued.

There were inflatable children's games, booths to peruse local businesses, live musicians singing popular cover songs and free cake. In short, it was the kind of day that made Nadine Clar's work worthwhile.

Clar, chairman for Bath Community Day, spent about 10 months planning. At the end the day and her 14-year chairman tenure, she said it's great how people of different ages and different organizations come together.

"People get the sense of a real community," she said. "It's just one day that the town feels like it's just Bath Township. (Plus), it's a great opportunity to see new businesses and organziations like Bath Business Association, Bath Gamma Garden and Park Board that really get things done in Bath."
