Free Car and Motorcycle Show on Tap Sunday in Fairlawn
Catavolos Funeral Home hosting second annual event to benefit two northeast Ohio charities.
Want to check out some sweet cars and motorcycles this weekend? For free? Then head over to in Fairlawn on Sunday for the 2nd Annual Car & Motorcycle Show created to benefit two northeast Ohio charities.
George Catavolos, managing partner of the funeral home, said the event featuring plenty of cool rides, food, music and a 50-50 raffle is free for spectators to attend from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
Free spectator parking will be available in the adjacent Rose Hill Burial Park and the parking lot, located just west of the West Market Street funeral home.

Those wishing to show off their cars or motorcycles can pre-register by calling 330-665-1700 or showing up to register between 9 a.m. and noon Sunday. Dash plaques will be given to the first 125 entries. Participants who make a $10 donation per vehicle will be in the running for prizes and trophies.
“We already have about 100 motorcycles and cars pre-registered – the more the merrier,” Catavolos said. “A lot of car shows I go to are just for muscle cars or for antique cars, but we’re not limiting it. Any kind of collector car or motorcycle is welcome.”

Among those vehicles on display will be about 10 owned by employees of Catavolos Funeral Home and Rose Hill Burial Park, including several of George Catavolos’ personal rides.
“We’re kind of a big, giant family so everybody around here is going to be all hands on deck. It’s a nice event and we’re all excited about it,” he said.
Akron-area performer and DJ Larry Alltop will be offering up oldies music during the show. Food vendors include an ice cream company that will donate half of its earning that day to the charities. There will also be pizza, Italian sausage, hot dogs, French fries, lemonade and soft drinks.
The car and bike show was launched last year as part of Catavolos’ week-long display of the Dignity Memorial Vietnam Wall, a traveling three-quarter-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.
While the funeral home won’t have the traveling memorial wall on display again for several years, Catavolos said the charity car show was a venture worth repeating. All proceeds will benefit the Greater Cleveland Fisher House, a veteran organization, and Crossroads Hospice Charitable Foundation in Green.
Co-sponsoring the show is Montrose Ford, which will be contributing either a Rousch or Shelby Mustang for display.
