Copley's Tribuzi Lands Two Top-10 Finishes At District

Indians do not earn any at-large bids to State Swim meet.

senior Erika Tribuzi put herself in position to reach the Division I state swimming and diving championships in Canton with a pair of outstanding times Saturday at the Cleveland State district championships.

Tribuzi left the Robert Busbey Natatorium without knowing if she was going to the state meet after finishing in seventh place in the 200 free (1:57.68) and sixth  in the 500 free (5:15.71).

The mystery for Tribuzi ended Sunday morning when the Ohio High School Athletic Association announced the qualifiers for the State meet. Tribuzi's name  was not on the list.

Tribuzi's efforts gave the Indians 25 points to place 24th among all girls teams at CSU. Copley also had junior Casie Aitken in two events. She was 24th in the 100 back with a 1:03.90 and 27th in the 100 free with a 56.29 where the field was 50 swimmers in each event.

For the Copley boys, junior Chris Lane, junior Henry Signore, junior John Poling and sophomore Kory Braman were in two events each while junior John Major and sophomore Cooper Comstock reached the district in one event each.

Lane was 23rd in the 200 individual medley where Poling was 25th and Signore was 26th in a field of 40. Lane also took 17th in the 100 breast while Braman was 28th. Braman and Poling went 26-30 in the 500 free. Copley had single entries in three other events with Major 29th in the 100 fly, Comstock 20th in the 100 back and Sigmore 37th in the 100 free.

Copley also had its 200 free relay and 400 free relay teams reach the district,  where both finished 18th
