Revere Senior Wins National Art Award

Caroline O'Brien will go to New York to receive Gold Key honor

 

Revere High School senior Caroline O’Brien has won a National Gold Key Award for her colored pencil drawing, “Charlette’s Web.”

She will travel to New York City for a ceremony at Carnegie Hall on May 31, at which actress and producer Sarah Jessica Parker will be the keynote speaker.

Caroline is among 300 young artists from across the country selected to have her work displayed at the Scholastic Nation Art Exhibition in New York.

More than 200,000 creative works from students in grades 7-12 were entered.

Caroline won a Gold Key in regional competition before her piece was entered in the national contest, where 1,600 gold and silver medalists were chosen.

Of those, 300 were selected for the Carnegie Hall ceremony.

Over the last five years, five Revere High School students in the fine arts program have won six national gold medals.
