Revere District Names New High School Principal

Phil King comes from Parma City School District.

announced at its regular meeting Tuesday that Phil King would be the new Revere High School principal. King comes from the Parma City School District, where he most recently was deputy principal at Parma High School.

“Phil impressed the search committee with his passion and his thoughtful answers to the interview questions,” said Revere Superintendent . “During my reference checks, I contacted past colleagues, administrators, current supervisors as well as the current superintendent of the Parma district. I heard words like awesome, loyal, dedicated, cares about children, will make the district proud. Very professional, great with public relations. An instructional leader. And he’s ready. He needs to be a principal.”

“I’m confident he’ll be able to take a great high school and lead it to even greater successes,” Boroff said. The board agreed, voting 3-0 in favor of King’s appointment. Board member William Hoover, who missed the meeting because his house was flooded in Monday night’s deluge, sent an email message via Boroff offering his endorsement. Joseph Forcina, Claudia Hower and George Seifert were present.

“And as a bonus, Phil’s wife, Kendra, is a graduate of Revere High School,” Boroff said.

King had a small entourage to welcome him to Revere.

“I’m very grateful,” King said. “It means a lot.” Boroff presented King with a Revere baseball cap and shirt to get his new wardrobe started.

King will earn $96,000 annually on a three-year contract, Boroff said. Previous Principal Bill Adams mostly recently earned $100,410, Treasurer David Forrest said.

In other action, the board approved spending $154,900 for two new school buses and approved the financial report for June.

The board also approved:
• Renewing property, fleet and liability insurance starting Aug. 1;
• Entering a contract with Suburban Transportation to meet specific needs of students and accommodations;
• Copier services with Ikon, a local provider of copiers and maintenance;
• Bus routes for the 2011-2012 school year;
• Several personnel contracts and stipends including football and basketball coaches and physical and speech therapists.

A reception for King as new Revere High School principal is scheduled for 6 p.m. Aug. 9 in the high school library, followed by a Board of Education work session.

A regular Board of Education meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 16 in the high school library.
