Revere Announces Athletic fees

News and events for week of March 7.

Athletetic fees set imposed at Revere

District Athletic Director Bill Schumacher announced fees for participation in spring sports in a letter to parents last week.
High school students will have to pay $250 and middle school students will pay $100, according to the letter.

Schumacher did not return messages for comment.

The deadline for paying fees is March 18 and all payments are non-refundable. Fees should not be paid to coaches but to Revere Local Schools at the high school athletic office or Mrs. Venus in the middle school main office.

According to Schumacher’s letter, the fees “offset the costs associated with interscholastic athletic programs.” More information on the fees and payment can be found by calling the athletic department at (330) 523-3204.

School Board notes

In other news, both Copley-Fairlawn and Revere boards of education for will have meetings this Tuesday.


Copley-Fairlawn City Schools Board of Education will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday in main conference room of , 3807 Ridgewood Road, Copley Township. The agenda for the meeting was not finalized Friday, but should be made available on the board’s Web site today, according to the superintendent’s office.

Revere’s Board of Education will have a workshop meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the board room of the Administration Building, 3496 Everett Road, Bath Township. Multiple issues are to be discussed, but the meeting will have no action items and will likely be held mostly in executive session, according to school officials.

School news and upcomig events:

Revere High School senior Kelsey Hogan is the Northeast Ohio Regional winner in the Daughters of the American Revolution essay competition. Next, she will compete at the state level.


Copley High School’s band and choir will have a pre-contest concert from 7 to 10 p.m. Tuesday in the auditorium of the high school.

The Revere High School chess team won the Greater Akron Chess League Tournament last weekend. The team won in the final match, which pitted senior John Ahlborg against Copley High School’s Kevin Du.


Fort Island Elementary is having a “Right-to-Read Week” that kicks off today. Each day of the week has different themes, like today’s “Hat Day,” and the week ends with Friday night’s Fort Island Family Fun Night, 5:30 p.m. at the school, 496 Trunko Road, Fairlawn.

will have a grades 7 and 8 spring dance Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the school, 1531 S. Cleveland-Massilon Road, Copley Township.
