Prom Roundup

Check out the fashions seen at proms in our area.

High school proms didn't start showing up in yearbooks until the 1930s, but since then they have become one of the watermarks of a high school career. The dances started out as a blue-collar equivalent to debutante balls.

For some prom is a night of dancing under crepe paper carnations and a tin foil twirling disco ball; for others it's a more upscale todo with white table cloths and crystal at daddy's country club.

For almost everyone, prom is the first formal event of a young life. And when you're in the middle of it, you can feel as fashionable as any starlet on  a red carpet.

Sometimes, when you look back...well, not so much. Just for fun, check out an array of fashion crimes (thankfully of no one we know) here.

Thankfully there were no fashion misses at proms closer to home. Here's a roundup of the finery Patch photographers saw at dances in ours and surrounding Patches.
