Memorial Day Observance Planned at Bath Veteran's Memorial Park

This year's speaker is retired Major General Dan Hahn.

The Revere High School marching band will provide patriotic music, there will be singing and information on the Pledge of Allegiance before retired Major General Dan Hahn speaks at this year's Memorial Day observance in Bath Township. 

The event is on May 27 at noon at the Bath Veteran's Memorial Park at the corners of W. Bath and N. Cleveland-Massillon Roads.

Emma Weihe, a Revere High School student, will sing prior to learning about the Pledge of Allegiance from fourth grade student Owen Desberg.

Hahn, who has 36 years of service, will address the audience. He commanded an artillery battalion during Desert Shield/Desert Storm in 1991 and had two assignments in the Pentagon on the Joint and Army Staffs. He served six different tours in Europe and one in Korea, according to a prepared statement. 

Hahn was promoted to Brigadier General in 2001 and he had two tours in Iraq. His last assignment was senior operations officer at a NATO headquarters in The Netherlands with responsibility for NATO Afghanistan operations.

He has numerous awards and decorations including the Distinguished Service Medal and three Bronze Star medals, a press release stated. 

It is recommended that people bring chairs and umbrellas for shade. The Bath Elementary School auditorium will be used in case of inclement weather.
