Watch: Fort Island Primary Celebrates Black History Month

The fourth grade students researched lesser known black historians and created PowerPoint presentations.

Computer Specialist Janice Hatch tasked her fourth grade students with a research project for Black History Month. The students were assigned a lesser known black historian and asked to navigate the web to find information.

Each student had a flow chart that asked questions about their person, and once they found it, they filled it out and created a PowerPoint presentation. The presentations were then made into a movie which is shown in the lobby of Fort Island for every student to learn.

In the above video, watch four students talk about their historian and explain why they think Black History Month is important.
