Copley High Valedictorian Awarded Siemens Merit Scholarship

Jessica Alexander graduated from Copley High earlier this month.

Jessica Alexander, co-valedictorian of s Class of 2012, has been awarded a Siemens Merit Scholarship for $4,000. Jessica is one of 150 students in 25 states to win.

Jessica will receive four installments of $1,000 through her four years of college. Jessica will attend Ohio Northern University in the fall to study pharmacy.

The Siemens Merit Scholarship is an award given to children of Siemens U.S. employees. Winners were chosen based on high scores on the PSAT as well as academic record, activities, contribution to the community, school recommendation and an essay about personal characteristics, plans and goals.

This year the Siemens Foundation awarded close to $600,000 in scholarship funds on behalf of participating Siemens divisions. By recognizing outstanding performance, the Siemens Foundation hopes to encourage and inspire the next generation of scientists, researchers and thinkers to propel America forward.
