Copley-Fairlawn School Board Hires Teachers, Tutors and Guidance Staff
Board president holds moment of silence for high school victims of Copley shootings.
In the last school board meeting before classes begin next week, the board approved the following recommendations from Superintendent Brian Poe:
• Accepted the resignations of the following staff: Carolyn Getson, teacher; Christopher Kovacevich, teacher; Scott Rouf, teacher; and Sharon Tapolcsanyi, tutor
• Hired teachers and tutors contingent on background checks: Marisa Beavers, Title I tutor; Jason Collins, tutor; Shannon Davis, tutor; Young-Ji Kim, teacher; Jennifer Lindsey, teacher; Veronica Stewart, tutor.

• Confirmed bus routes and parking fees, which remain at $25 per semester.
All board votes were 5-0 except on the hiring of Michele Calderone as a special needs assistant, educational aide. Kenneth Calderone abstained, making it a 4-0 vote in favor.

The board went into executive session to discuss personnel issues at about 7:15 p.m. and adjourned at about 8:30 p.m. without taking further action, Poe said.
Administrators began the meeting with a moment of silence for Copley shooting victims, , who were students. The students were among seven killed in a shooting spree Aug. 7.
