Local Radio Station Continues to Support Stewart’s Caring Place Through the 7th Annual Hope Walk

Julie DiVitto of 91.3 The Summit Radio Station gathers walkers for 7th Annual Hope Walk

Rallying listeners, members, volunteers, and staff, 91.3 The Summit radio station’s Community Outreach and Volunteer Coordinator, Julie DiVitto, is dedicated to helping the local cancer community through Stewart’s Caring Place: Cancer Wellness Center’s 7th Annual Hope Walk.

“We have a long-time Summit member and volunteer currently battling cancer,” she said.

This will be DiVitto’s first time walking at the event, but The Summit has helped Stewart’s Caring Place with the Hope Walk for the past few years, providing bags for the goodies given to each walker.

The Summit has also assisted with the Butterfly Gala, providing music, the sound system and an emcee for the evening.

DiVitto became aware of Stewart’s Caring Place when she started volunteering for The Summit by typing up public services announcements. She came across information about Stewart’s and its free services.

“I really wish there was a Stewart’s Caring Place in the late 80s,” says DiVitto. “I lost my grandma and uncle to cancer two years apart, and it would have been wonderful for my family to have resources similar to Stewart’s.”

After two years of volunteer work with The Summit, DiVitto became a part-time staff member in 2010. She helped organize and implement the live Turning Outward broadcasts at local non-profit organizations, and now arranges all events at Studio C, inviting foundations in to the new studio space to thank them for their support, and booking local artists for intimate shows.

Though DiVitto does a lot of the behind-the-scenes work at The Summit, she’s helping Stewart’s Caring Place in a big way by putting together a 91.3 team.

The 7th Annual Hope Walk will be held on Saturday, May 11 at Bicentennial Park in Fairlawn, located at 3486 S. Smith Road. Registration begins at 8am, the walk starts at 9:15am. Pre-register for the event by visiting the Hope Walk web page!
