Kent State University Students Choose Stewart’s Caring Place: Cancer Wellness Center for their Fundraising Project

Kent State students organize bowling fundraiser for Stewart's Caring Place

Students at Kent State University are receiving real-world work experiences in their communication course by organizing a bowling fundraiser to benefit Stewart’s Caring Place: Cancer Wellness Center. The event will be held on Friday, Nov. 9 at 9pm at Kent Lanes, located at 1524 South Water Street in Kent. Tickets are $15 pre-sale and $20 at the door.

Team Spare a Life chose Stewart’s Caring Place after team member Bailey Adkins shared her personal experiences at Stewart’s with her classmates. The group visited Stewart’s early in October to learn more about the organization and its free services and programs offered to cancer patients and their families.

“We’re very excited to be working with Kent State students,” said Events Coordinator Raven DeVoll. “Not only do we get to educate them about our services and how important supportive care is, but we also get to engage them in a meaningful service opportunity.”

The bowling event will include unlimited bowling, raffles, door prizes and food until 2am. Items can still be donated to the event by contacting Adkins at badkins5@kent.edu. All proceeds from the event will benefit Stewart’s Caring Place.
