You Said It: Should Ohio Outlaw Texting While Driving?

Bill died last year, is back for another look.

The Ohio House has again approved a bill that would outlaw texting while driving. A similar bill was passed in the House last year but died in the Senate.

Law enforcement officials like the idea but believe enforcement would be tricky – how do you prove in court that a driver was texting when the officer spotted the infraction or when an accident happened?

Still, everyone we've talked to so far thinks it's a good idea to ban texting while driving. It's just too dangerous, they say. Some added talking on the phone while driving is bad enough, let alone taking your eyes off the road completely to text a message. Even so, several have admitted to texting behind the wheel.
