West Market GetGo Back on the Table

Fairlawn officials thought the West Market GetGo issue was moot for now... turns out, it's not.

Fairlawn's Planning Commission turned down Giant Eagle's plan to build a GetGo gas station at the corner of West Market and Trunko on March 8, but it turns out, the issue isn't moot yet.

At Monday's committe of the whole meeting, Mayor William Roth told council the March 8 vote doesn't count because it was two for and two against.

"You need three for an up or down vote, according to our rule," Roth said. "It comes out as no action when it's two to two."

Giant Eagle officials will appear before planning commission again on April 12, and there's a chance the plan could be approved.

The $2.2 million gas station was Giant Eagle wants to build on the land of the former Ahern's Florist.

because there were several concerns about the safety of motorists entering and exiting the station, as well as motorists passing through the busy intersection.

again because of safety concerns, and because the traffic in that area is already hectic.
