Summit County Council Wants Better Fracking Regulations
Council recommended approval of a resolution asking the state to review the regulations at its April 26 meeting.
Summit County Council passed a resolution at it's April 26 meeting asking the state to review its regulations on hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, according to the West Side Leader.
Committee members Gloria Rodgers (R-District 3) and Bill Roemer (R-at large) voted against the resolution because they believe Gov. John Kasich's energy bill will address the issues, West Side Leader reports.
Right now, Ohio's House Bill 278 gives exclusive authority to regulate the drilling of oil and gas wells to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. Cities, townships and villages have no say.

Bath Township Administrator Bill Snow appeared before the committee and said he'd like to see the state ask for community input before making any changes, the Leader reports.
