President Obama Supports Gay Marriage (Poll)

Obama says same sex couples should be allowed to get married.

President Barack Obama is a supporter of gay marriage. The Huffington Post reports Obama is the first sitting president to support the issue.

"I've always been adamant that gay and lesbian Americans should be treated fairly," Obama told ABC News' Robin Roberts. "... at a certain point I’ve just concluded that for me personally it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same sex couples should be able to get married."

How does Obama's stance make you feel? How do you feel about same-sex marriages? Tell us in the comments.

Frankly, I don't like the term "gay marriage" -- it's just marriage. Between two people. Consenting adults. Legal with the state but not required to involve any religious institution -- civil law & nothing to do with your god or church. If you believe in "traditional marriage", I invite you to read your bible -- you might change your tune when you see the range of options allowed "traditionally". Options & routes to marriage include: polygamy, being forced to marry your rapist, concubines, women as property, women's property including her slaves, adding in your sister-in-law as a second wife if she's widowed, prisoners of war, etc. There are over 300 benefits & privileges -- both federal & state -- given to straight married couples that are denied to gay couples. If you question if that matters, watch this 10-minute video --> http://youtu.be/pR9gyloyOjM That's one story amongst tens of thousands. It's a human rights equality issue -- nothing 'special' about it. End of.
