The Erie, PA, Times-News reported that McClimans was a member of the Twinsburg-based 848th Forward Surgical Team and was dually assigned to the 352nd Combat Support Hospital at Camp Parks, CA.

Bulebush created a Facebook page to memorialize McClimans, "Loving Memory Joshua McClimans."

Shortly before deploying in Afghanistan, McClimans visited his son Max's first-grade class at Fort Island Primary School

Principal Robert Whitaker said he didn't know what plans the class had to memorialize McClimans, and if there is a memorial it would be very low-key. Getting such bad news was "pretty raw" for the kids, he said.
