Fairlawn's Concrete Roads to Get Face Lift Soon

Several of the city's concrete roads are in disrepair, but that will change soon.

You may have noticed several of Fairlawn's concrete roads marked with orange spray paint, usually around sewer holes. That's because Fairlawn officials are preparing to get concrete road repair started very soon.

At Monday's meeting, members discussed accepting the bid of Perrin Asphalt, the company that completed the roundabout at Jacoby and Ridgewood roads. The city estimated the repairs to cost around $205,000, but Perrin's estimates came in at roughly $177,000.

"They've done excellent work in the past with us," said Deputy Service Director Ernie Staten. "I'd like to see council go forward with accepting their bid."

The program will cover trouble spots on Trunko Road at Chamberlain Road and Stanley Road. It will also cover a couple areas on Morewood and Caledonia roads.

Councilwoman Barbara Potts asked for a complete overhaul of Trunko, but it's not in the works at the moment.

Council will not accept the bids at its next meeting on May 7 because two members were absent from the Committee of the Whole discussion.
