Office Sought: Revere Local School Board

Previous Office Sought or Held: Served on the Revere Local School Board for 24 previous years.

Candidate statement: I am a 36 year resident of Bath Twp. I have had four daughters attend the Revere Schools, three have attended from K-12 and one started when we moved here in grade 2-12. I currently have a grandson attending the Pre-School at Bath.  I am married to Steve.

I have served as a Revere Board member for 24 years.  Because of an error on my part, I was unable to run for the position 4 years ago.  I have spent the past four years watching the board and administration and listening to the people in the community.  I have decided that I would like to serve again in this demanding role because I feel there is a lack of cohesiveness among the board, staff, administration and community.

During the 24 years that I served, I worked on every board committee,
served on the Cuyahoga Valley Career Center board, and continued to be very active in all the PTAs of the district. I have been involved in negotiations, Superintendent search, Treasurer search, additions to the buildings, levy committees, new policy adoptions, attended 22 Ohio School Boards Association conventions,  attended board member workshops to stay current on legislation and school policy and  during the 24 years on the board, I missed only three meetings.

This election will see the replacement of three board members and the two remaining on the board have only two years experience each.  This next year will bring some of the most extensive changes to education.  I feel that
my prior experience can be of help to the new board.  I want to see a board that
works together with the staff, administration, parents and the community.  I
want to see the Strategic Plan revisited by a community team and staff to
determine what course we are on and where we need to be headed with all of the
State changes that will be implemented with or without SB5.

We as a board also have the responsibility to be accountable to the taxpayers of
the Revere Schools. We have been fortunate to have passed a levy this Spring.
However, that does not mean that we go back to business as usual.  In light of
the funding and mandates from the State, we will need to be looking outside the
box for new ideas to maintain the level of education our children in Revere are
entitled to.

The children are directly impacted by the decisions of the adults in this
community and we have to be responsible to them by  making  their  education the best it can be for all children at all levels of ability.

I have been involved for 36 years in Revere and will continue to be. I am
committed, dedicated and have pride in what I have been able to do here in
Revere.  I am asking that I be permitted that privilege again. I will bring
Pride to Revere.  Catch it!
