Bath Township Trustees Meet Tonight

The Bath Township Trustees will meet at 7 tonight for their regularly scheduled, twice-monthly  meeting. The agenda this week includes sending a  proposal to re-lease space at its salt storage facility at 3863 Ira Road  to the Summit County Engineer.

In recent weeks, the Summit County Engineer's office had requested the space to help it treat the 65 miles of county connector roads within Bath Township. Summit County six years ago sold the salt storage property to Bath Township. It re-leased most of the space up until last year, when it chose to rely on its downtown Akron facility, according to William Snow, Bath Township Administrator. This year, the county determined it would be more convenient to re-lease the Bath Township space.

Bath Township had recently renovated the facility, which included repairing damage to roofs and siding. If accepted by Summit County, the lease agreement would fetch Bath Township $7,200 a year.

The trustees will meet in the Trustees Meeting Room. Tonight's agenda  also includes a motion to  honor Assistant Volunteer Fire Chief James Hower, who has served 40-plus years and is now retiring; a recommendation by Police Chief Michael McNeely to apply for a grant to help purchase a GPS tracking unit; and a recommendation by Snow to apply to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Recycling and Litter Prevention Grant Program to help purchase more safety vests for the litter pick-up campaign set for April.
