Bath Township Trustees Agree to Summit County Tax Revenue Sharing

At Monday’s regular meeting, Bath Township trustees agreed to enter a memorandum of understanding with Summit County “for Job Creation and Retention and Tax Revenue Sharing.”

Administrator William Snow said because Bath Township’s income is based largely on property tax, this measure won’t have much effect on Bath’s tax revenues. “The agreement allows for tax revenue sharing between the parties and the end result is to protect businesses in Summit County by creating a level playing field. Most of this addresses income tax, which is JEDD income tax, so this doesn’t affect the township a great deal.”  

The trustees also agreed to expand Tracie Tsai’s job as a communications specialist from part-time to full-time effective July 1. She’ll be paid $20.84 hourly. The trustees also agreed to extend firefighter trainee Matthew Sandmann’s probation an additional six months to accommodate his military commitments.     

The trustees accepted $6,559.91 from the Summit Akron Solid Waste Management Authority Recycle Grant for the amount of recycled materials Bath Township has collected, and the money will go toward a recycling center in conjunction with the Revere school district. The trustees also approved requisitions and regular purchase orders totaling $247,041.11.

The trustees also scheduled a special meeting for 11 a.m. July 11 for the 2012 budget, and and special meeting immediately afterward to adopt the 2012 budget.
